EP 66: You Don't Have a Client Problem, You Have a Clarity Problem
The difference between struggling entrepreneurs and thriving business owners often comes down to one critical factor: clarity. Do you know exactly what problem you solve and how to communicate that value to potential clients? If not, this episode is your wake-up call.
Nikisha King cuts through the noise with uncomfortable truths about why many service-based entrepreneurs struggle to generate consistent income. It's not the economy, the algorithm, or your market—it's your messaging. When you can't clearly articulate what transformation you provide and why someone should pay for it, your business remains stuck in neutral.
The episode challenges the common practice of giving potential clients quick "aha moments" during discovery calls or networking events. While these temporary shifts might feel good momentarily, they quickly fade when the person returns to their usual environment. Real service means committing to someone's complete transformation—providing not just a glimpse of possibility but the tools, systems, and support to permanently overcome their challenges.
What makes this conversation particularly powerful is Nikisha's metaphor about having all the ingredients but lacking the recipe. Many entrepreneurs possess everything needed to create something remarkable but lack the structure to present it effectively. Like a chef with premium ingredients but no culinary training, they end up with an unappetizing mess rather than a gourmet meal that clients eagerly pay for. Ready to transform your business messaging and create offers that actually sell? This episode gives you the blueprint to get started. Speaker 2:Hello, gorgeous, welcome back to Leading Her Way podcast. I'm Nikisha, as I was beautifully introduced, and I am your host on this beautiful podcast that speak to bold, iconic women, ceo, who are ready to elevate their game. And if you're here and you're listening and you're looking for that transformation, welcome. I am doing for this series, the Make Money money series, and I love it because I'm okay making money and I have no problem with it, and I just want to let you know that right now. Now, in order for us to make money, as any business owner who chooses this path is out to do, because we're for-profit companies. If you're a non-profit, you still want to generate money to fund the cause you believe in, so don't ever get it twisted. We live in a country where generating money through our skills and value is what we're here to do. If you have any money, mindset challenges, welcome. This series is for you Now, with season three starting last month. I am so amazed at all of the feedback listening downloads we've been receiving from all of our speakers Mia, katya and also Ellen. They are tremendous women who are in our industry doing amazing things, just like you, and I want to be able, in this podcast, to speak to this amazing human being who right now is listening to me and who is struggling immensely in creating an offer for her company. If you are that woman who's literally struggling, going in circles, doing all of the activities to figure out how to get a clear message so that you can easily tell someone what you do so they can be very interested in you, this episode is for you. So what I'm going to start with, first and foremost, making money. First and foremost, making money is where people get stuck at. All they want to do is increase, make money, and every time you do that, I go. Well, how will you? What are you willing to do? What are you willing to create for that? What value will you give? And half of the time they don't have an answer because they don't know what they're offering, they don't know what they're giving, they don't know what they're doing. And listen, that's not the problem. That's so not the problem. That's far removed from the problem. That's so not the problem. That's far removed from the problem. The problem is what are you going to do to figure out what it takes to build an offer that is so clear, so easy and something that you can literally sell and people get the transformation in it.
Speaker 2:I had the pleasure today of speaking to someone on a call, and in speaking to this person on a call they were in so much pain One out of a 10, eight and as much pain as they were in the world looked like hunters to them. They did not see the opportunity when someone offered them help. They saw it as more as everyone's trying to sell them. And what they didn't realize is the reason everyone's trying to sell them in their beautiful mind is because the people they're speaking to can see their pain and they're literally saying I can help you with that. When we're in so much pain, half of the time when someone offers us help, we translate it into something negative. And it's so interesting because in that moment, as she's translating that and this person is also in the service industry I asked her when you do your workshop, when you do your program and if you see someone in need of help, do you literally just listen to them, tap them on their shoulder and go oh, it was nice meeting you and walk away?
Speaker 2:And she said no, in that moment I tell them something so that they can have a shift and I go. Yes, so many of us do that. So many of us and I love it right. We want to give. Nothing is wrong with giving. We want to give. So what that looks like is, in that moment, you're going to give 10, 15, or even 30 minutes and you're going to give that person a great aha moment, a shift. They go, their eyes go bright, oh, my God, I never realized that that was so good. Right, they get that shift. Then they walk away and they go to speak to five other people, and the five other people, the 10 other people, the 20 other people they engage with, is now telling them things. That puts them right back to where they started before the shift. The thought about I can't do this, this doesn't work for me, it's not ever going to work for me. I can't do this, this doesn't work for me, it's not ever going to work for me. And that little light that you planted, that little shift that you planted, it lasted and it felt really good when it lasted. And now they're right back to level one.
Speaker 2:When we try to create a shift in a moment, it's temporary. If you want to ever serve someone, if you ever want to show up, if you really, really, really care. I have to tell you that shift will never be enough. It's like a little taste of the possibility of what you can create in their life forever the transformation, the possibility of what you can create in their life forever the transformation. And if you really care about the people you serve, giving them a taste is just well mean. How can you give someone the taste of a possibility of an amazing experience in life, then walk away from them? Amazing experience in life, then walk away from them. And that, to me, is not service. That, to me, is somewhat unfair.
Speaker 2:Now, what would happen if this human being who was speaking to this person saw their pain and said you know what, I can help you. And in order for you to transform, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to commit to you for this amount of time six months, 12 months or even 18 months and in my commitment to you and me being locked into you, I am going to give you this, this and this, and I'm going to help you not only shift, but transform your whole entire life to where you no longer feel this pain, because it will not exist. But now you know, if it even sprouts its ugly head. You have all of the tools and the power like that to change it. You have the tools. You no longer seek someone to give you a taste of a shift, but now you've been transformed to a time where you can make decisions. That puts you back in the place you want to be. That is power, my friend. Don't ever get it twisted.
Speaker 2:Coaching someone for 15, 20, or 30 minutes is a taste of everlasting joy and, in all honesty, that is more brutal than spending 6, 12, or 18 months with them, because what you're doing is that you're telling them here is the possibility of what you can have, but I'm never going to invite you to that possibility and I'm going to let you suffer To me. I don't want that for you. To me, I'm not here to invite you into a three-day, 12 weeks, because after you're done, you're going to walk away feeling like you never received what was meant for you. We can do it quicker, but we can do it quicker when we have a system that supports that quickness. And if you are coming because this person doesn't have anything, they have six different things happening all at once and they don't know how to organize it and they're not willing to do anything different to organize it. Although they're feeling a pain of an eight, there is no way, no how I can help them or someone else who wants to help them. Because in their eyes, in their beautiful new eyes of being a business owner, they think everyone's out for them. And this is the difference about being a business owner who's new, who's uneducated, who's uninformed. To a business owner who's hungry, who wants something more than themselves.
Speaker 2:Becoming an iconic women CEO is not about looking at the world and going. I can't ask for anything, and if you're not willing to ask, that means you're not willing to give. They work hand in hand. They're the opposite that attracts. And what I love about where we live I love the country we live in, I love the opportunities we have is because, in order for me to get anything of cash value, I have to produce a problem solving asset to the person. I have to know, when I'm selling an offer, that that is going to solve the problem that that person's having in that time and moment. That's what I know for sure. This is not a question. This is not something I try to figure out. This is the actual fact. This is the actual fact If you don't have the problem solving solution, then why will I hire you? And if you don't know how to clearly say that to me where you hit me in my gut, then there's no way I would hire you because you're not speaking my language.
Speaker 2:I want you to know as of right now, as you listen to this podcast business is not about writing 10 million things down. A whiteboard notes it literally about making a decision, taking action, experimenting, re or updating or reiterating or pivoting. And pivoting doesn't mean change your whole business. It means this didn't work. Let me change this one factor and see if that makes a difference. And if you don't know how to do that yet, look in the show notes. Look in the show notes for that link that will connect us.
Speaker 2:It is what I do, it is what I love, it is everything about me. I love the fact someone comes to me with a beautiful, amazing mess. They have everything they need, all of the ingredients, but the order of the recipe to make that beautiful outcome, that beautiful meal that nourished your soul. It's never organized and it's a highly mess that when they make it, it just keep producing mush at the end. And for you to have the outcome of that five course, six course meal, that appetizer entree dessert yes, I'm getting hungry For you to make that. There is something you have to do. There is something you have to do. You have to step up and go to that French culinary school that's going to teach you how to create a recipe out of all the ingredients you have and how to serve it in a way that people will buy from you at the rate you choose to sell them.
Speaker 2:It's not about a recession. It's not about people not having money. It's not about social media not showing your algorithm or showing your content F that. It's not about any of that. It's about your messaging, it's about who you're speaking to, it's about your positioning and it's mostly important, about what problem are you really solving. And if you're not clear about that, hell no, the person you're trying to sell to will not be clear about that. They won't ever get it. And it's not them. They don't have the problem Because it's not their responsibility to be able to clearly express what they're offering as a solution to someone else's problem. That's a you problem, not a them. That was a me problem, not a them.
Speaker 2:I never looked at anyone and went this isn't working for me because of you. And if you are saying that to yourself in this time and moment and you're blaming everything else, you are more than welcome to. But get this no matter how much you blame anyone else, your circumstances are not changing. If your circumstances is not changing, guess what? It is not a them problem, it's a you problem and I want you to really feel this message. I want you to be so upset at me. I want you not to like me, but what I want is for you to be disrupted me, but what I want is for you to be disrupted, upset, annoyed. You go. Nikesha might have a point. I don't like it, but she kind of has a point. It's okay for you to be upset at me. I will take it.
Speaker 2:The most important part about you being upset at me is actually rethinking how you've been looking at this all along. That is it. I never care about what people think about me, because what anyone thinks about me is none of my business. Let me say that again for the person in the back of the room, all the way back there what anyone thinks about me is none of my business. I don't care what anyone thinks about this beautiful soul, what I want them to get is the transformation that's there waiting for them so that they can go out in the world and serve their purpose that they were meant to serve. That is it.
Speaker 2:You are meant to do something spectacular. You are either doing it or you're not. There is no in between. There is no trying, there is no I can't All lies.
Speaker 2:What are you willing to do in your moment, right now, to change your outcome is the question. That is the question. That's what I want to know. What are you willing to do to change your outcome? And with that, my friend, I'm going to let you go. I'm going to let you go and process this. I'm going to go, let you, I'm going to go and let you process this. I'm going to let you figure out what is best for you.
Speaker 2:And if you're interested in learning more about working with me, or you're just interested in speaking to me, because what I said makes you feel a little bit uncomfortable I am here. I will always offer you help. I will always give you an opportunity to have a solution to the problem that I know I can help with. I am not here to work on anything else other than sales, how you make money and your systems, how you make the recipe that will consistently work in selling your offer.
